A Season with Soul

As we move into Spring, we can can see as our surroundings in nature change. The days get longer and warmer and we enjoy spending more time outdoors. Those of us with cats know how they love to spend hours lounging in the sunshine. No matter where they are, they will find that single ray of sunshine to lay in, content and in their bliss.

Spring also brightens our surroundings with vibrant colors from the leaves and flowers as they blossom and bloom. The arrival of Spring awakens something in all of us after what seems like a a long winter nap. As we are all connected on this incredible universe, we all experience change; nature, people, animals…everything. In this regard, there is no diversity, only unity.

One of the most rewarding aspects of our work with the cats is witnessing their changes over the years. I have many stories of cats who I found in a state of despair - a product of neglect. A once sad, afraid and desperate look in a cat´s eyes transforms into a look of joy, hope and trust. Just as a flower opens up and shares its magnificent color and scent, a cat who is loved unconditionally eventually opens up as his or her trust in us turns into love, which turns into joy for both. As Charles Dickens said, ¨What greater love than the love of a cat?.¨ I would like to add that the love of a cat who has transformed is like no other.

I dedicate this in memory and with all my heart to Sol, the amazing cat who showed me through the years, through the seasons, and every single day that change can be truly beautiful. We just have to open our hearts and eyes to feel and see it because, fortunately, it is all around us.
